Are You looking for a Home Inspector in New York? A licensed New York home inspector will usually write up an extensive report with all the repairs needed. Often, it is easy to spot troubled areas before an inspector comes. For your personal knowledge, here is a list of the most common and easiest to spot issues found in a home during a home inspection.
4 easiest to spot issues a home can have in NY!
1. Roof Repairs: Multiple layers on a roof. Multiple layers of shingles on a roof shorten the lifespan of the roofing system. Multiple layers of shingles make the roof unable to properly cool itself thus leading to asphalt shingle degradation. Here is an example of a roof with 4 layers from a house we inspected recently in Brooklyn, NY.
2. Electrical repairs: GFCI receptacles not installed. Pictured here is a non GFCI outlet located in a kitchen. The kitchen was recently renovated but the electric was never updated posing a significant safety risk to its occupants. This picture was taken from a house we inspected in Canarsie Brooklyn, NY.
3. Water damage: Ceiling and wall stains. Water damage occurred in this home were performed a home inspected in Queens, NY. Staining is clearly visible from past water damage coming from the roof.
4. Windows: Breached windows, cracked or damaged windows. Missing screens. This picture is from a house in Manhattan Beach Brooklyn, NY. The home its self was listed for 1.5 million dollars, but the window in the back room was broken such that the owner had drilled a hole through the window frame and glued a string in order to be able to close the window.
